Create The Levee Park and River Road Design Vista
Dear Councilmembers Batt, Pratt, Clarkson, Gusman, Willard-Lewis, Thomas, and Sapir, Mayor Nagin, and Dr. Truehill:
The city must not give away any free land to Tulane on the railroad-side of Leake Avenue in Uptown New Orleans. Do not expand Leake Avenue because of Tulane traffic at Uptown Square.
Our levee green space is unique. Please declare it a public park, The Levee Park, as called for in our New Orleans Master Plan.
Please preserve our unique heritage by declaring The Levee Park and Leake Avenue a Design Vista as as described in the New Orleans Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance.
Please place a low-rise zoning overlay on this area and protect it forever for the benefit of the citizens of New Orleans.
Thank you.
Sincerely yours,

High-Rise Development So Close to the Railroad at Uptown Square is Dangerous.
Dear Councilmembers Batt, Pratt, Clarkson, Gusman, Willard-Lewis, Thomas, and Sapir, Mayor Nagin, and Dr. Truehill,
Placing high density, high-rise buildings on Leake Avenue only 50 feet away from an active railroad, which carries toxic and military supplies, is dangerous for our neighborhood and for the people living in these high-rise buildings.
This will create a lure and a target for terrorist attacks, similar to the March 11, 2004 train attacks in Madrid, Spain.
Tulane should not put students in high-rise dormitories or children in nursery school at Uptown Square, if there is even a slight danger at that site.
Any accident on the Railroad or Leake Avenue will create an evacuation nightmare.
Do not allow the railroad to park unattended freight cars and tankers in our neighborhood.
Please consult with city, state, and federal officials, including fire, emergency, police, military, railroad personnel, and homeland security officials, to prevent a possible human, financial, and environmental disaster in our midst.
Thank you.
Sincerely yours,
