Please Support Zoning Docket 106-04 to Protect Our Small City Squares

Dear Councilmembers Batt, Pratt, Clarkson, Gusman, Willard-Lewis, Thomas, Sapir, and CPC Chairman Jackson:

Please support Zoning Docket 106-04.

A Planned Residential Community (RPC) is a large-scale development, which can change our traditional neighborhood zoning.

New Orleans has many small, non-standard squares scattered throughout the City. Some small squares are only 5% as large as a standard City square or block.

Building an RPC on a small, non-standard City square does not qualify as a large-scale development and is not what the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance (CZO) intended.

Please change Section 10.7.4 of the CZO, which describes the minimum area for an RPC to read “one acre, or 1/2 of a City square, whichever is the greater.”

Thank you.

Sincerely yours,
